Upcoming Event: OMAFRA Composted Pack Barn Workshops

Due to increasing interest in cow-comfort, the OMAFRA dairy team are presenting workshops on composted pack barns during February and March, 2018. Three workshop locations have been chosen:

Alma (Wellington County) on Thursday, February 15, 2018,  Alma Community Centre, 51 Simpson St E, Alma, ON N0B 1A0

Solina (Durham Region) on Thursday, February 22, 2018, Solina Community Hall 1964 Concession Rd 6, Hampton, ON L0B 1J0

Richmond (Ottawa Region) on Thursday, March 8, 2018 Richmond Memorial Community Center, 6095 Perth St, Richmond, ON K0A 2Z0

Each composted pack barn workshop will feature topics such as barn design, udder health/mastitis management, composting essentials, labour and management for the pack, and ventilation. Each workshop will also include a visit to a local pack barn to learn from experienced farmers.

Depending upon location, speakers will include Dr. Kelly Barratt, Dairy Famers of Ontario; Dr. Ann Godkin, OMAFRA; Rajan Niraula,OMAFRA; Dean Miller, Conestoga Agri; Mario Mongeon, OMAFRA; Christoph Wand, OMAFRA and Tom Wright, OMAFRA, as well as a producer panel with experienced composted bedding pack dairy farmers

Early registration: $75.00
Late registration (starts 1 week prior to each workshop): $105.00
